Why Oxford Street is the best place to go shopping in Sydney.
Oxford Street runs through the heart of Sydney. The street is known for all sorts of buzzing activity, but what stands out the most is the Aussie street’s selection of striking boutiques. First time shoppers should expect to start seeing stunning boutiques at about 50 Oxford Street. Each store has a vibrant collection of international and Australian designer looks. Boutiques like Museum typify the shops on Oxford. The store offers a wide collection of unique dresses that will bring a smile to any woman’s face. The dresses are sexy. The designers incorporate current trends with flattering designs and elegant styles. The store also offers gorgeous blouses and designer label jeans. Museum is located at 296 Oxford Street in Paddington. The prices range from $150 - $600 per item. Other clothing boutiques on Oxford range from $40 - $150, and still others range from $400 - $1,000. Visitors will also find basic chain clothing collections like Sports Girl and French Connection. As shoppers continue to muse along from shop to shop, they will find that Oxford Street also offers some rare collections. A shopper will discover several small shoe stores that hold heels as unique as the girls who wear them. Other rare boutiques include a store dedicated to amassing a wide collection of soap. The shop claims to have any scent one may desire. Shoppers will also notice a large number of specialty make-up stores and lavish hair salons. In every block there is at least one café to quench thirst or hunger. Many specialize in delicious breakfast entrees. For a break away from shopping, one should visit Jackie's Cafe. The café is cozy and inviting. It also has a menu that glorifies the egg and toast combo. One of the best entrees is sourdough toast and scrambled eggs mixed with spinach and feta cheese. The brunch is the best way to re-energize for more exciting shopping expeditions. If shoppers make it all the way to 500 Oxford Street, they will likely have a lot to carry and will be desperate for some quick transportation. Every ½ kilometer there is a bus stop that will transport travelers through Sydney’s CBD to Circular Quay. If a shopper doesn’t already have a prepaid bus ticket, he or she will need to get on bus #380 and it will cost between $2 and $3. Of course shoppers can always call out for an available taxi. Cabs frequently drive up and down the famous street. At the end of a full day of shopping on Oxford, visitors will likely have emptied their wallets, filled up their stomachs and completed a true journey into Australian fashion.
