Sydney, Australia is known for its mild tropical weather, yet temperatures vary. Being aware of seasonal changes, and packing accordingly can save you time and money.
Australia is in the southern hemisphere (south of the equator) and shares the same four calendar seasons as the northern hemisphere. Yet the weather during the seasons differ. SPRING: SEPTEMBER, OCTOBER, NOVEMBERSpring is considered one of the wet seasons, so expect variable weather during your trip. Temperatures average from high 20-23 Celsius (69-74 Farenheit). Although not officially beach season, you may want to pack your beach gear just in case. Include your swimsuit and shorts for the warm-weather days and a small umbrella and lightweight rain gear for wet days. It's also a great time of the year for jeans, T-shirts, lightweight sweaters, jackets, boots and sandals. Women will want to include cotton dresses with coordinating jackets and sweaters for evenings. Men may want to bring a sports coat for night. SUMMER: DECEMBER, JANUARY, FEBUARYAustralian summers are hot. Temperatures can range from high 25-26 Celsius (77-79 Farenheit). This is the best time of the year to pack for the beach.
